GOD  FLOWER

The God Flower

The Silent Psychic Muse

Infinity’s debutante

Silent Virtue

Into a two-sided trance

Devoid of lost beauty

Ships out to eternal voyage

Sun shatters into stained glass teardrop memory

Hues of gold and ivory sunrise

To you who would hear

Hear to listen

Infinite Sunflower

Petals of now

The bow of heart memory

Drawn back

Resonance

Vibration

Unitive principal

Drums in a circle

Some things are never lost

Humanity’s prize

Left – Nowhere   Right – Now here

Such silence is only revealed

By night

EARTH’S MYSTERY AND THE AMERICAN NATURE

Homecoming silence
A new texture to the air
The wide panoramas
Now gone from the mind
Blue, low down, hidden.
Red pickup truck
Broke down on the side of the road
But unaware
Of the storm to come
In defense mode
No music
Music would have helped
Vision 20/20 in hindsight
Hectagonal denominator
Remote poetry
Remote control
Moon landing
Run back home
Don’t tell a soul
Everybody wants
Those really big secrets

Humble offering
To the old Gods
The old symbols
The oldest of them all
Since first we saw God
Nothing split in two
Independent blessing
Smooth shoulders
Nativity scene
Peace is within us
And all around us
And yet this world
Gives cause for bravery
Sometimes
Some times call forth
Heroes and villains
Great monuments
To our silent history

So many stories
Earth’s greatest miracle
The human potential
How far to go
To some semblance of home
The emotions swell up
Sweet, no bitterness
Tears of gratitude
The true sacred blessing
Safe evermore
In his divine good keeping

Battlefield awareness
Dying consciously
With full presence
Slave to the unborn
Suicide generals
Daughters of the revolution
Parasol picnics
And the Holy Ghost
Forgotten songs
Blow over the land
Stirring memories
Tucked away on shelves
Starched uniforms
Army dogs
21 gun salute
25 milligrams at night before sleep

Fading pictures
Painful in absence
Season of political bluster and wail
End times
Lonely visages
Empty canyons
Something happened here
Post bleached white monuments
Wind
Sound of commerce
Occupied voices
Bone sticks
Hallway games
Twisting trail
Such beauty
Large money
Spent on this apparition
Large sulking ghost
They never dreamed of this
Our ancestors
How did we get here?
The unspoken, unacknowledged mystery
Of the day to day
Square boxes
Only humans make squares
Reflects our minds
Not our nature
What nature?
Joke of a dying planet
Dark clouds
It couldn’t happen here
But two walked above
Eyes open
Sole witness
To the special blessing
Of Easter
Time and intuition
Mark the spot
One man
Jeesh!

DIATRIBE MOMENTS

Bare boned awareness
Collie-flip illusion
3 dollar minute
One eyed jack
And a blues fiddler player
Ran off
With sweet Virginia
Never to be heard from again
Smoke signals
Seen down the trails
Whisky barrel ragtime
Gin-soaked mutiny
Furrowed fields
Staying on that side
Of the fence
Energy lifting the facility
Upward
You can feel it in your gut
Season’s looking very up
Staying off the battlefields
Choosing instead
A sunny day
From which to build
Upon the now

REMEMBERING THE FIRST TIME

Creedence plays upon the speakers
First time I got high was from a beaker
Chemistry set teapot bong hits
Didn’t really turn the key
Second time
Was a different story
Green haze
Labyrinth mystery
And a case of the munchies
Door shut quickly
Angry parents
Ominous signals
Memories buried
In a cardboard box
In a dusty basement
In Pennsylvania
But once upon a time
Cherry red, cherry powered
Autumn fall-away vacation
Crisp leaves
And the glow of youth
Still in the air
Until again,
The door shuts quickly
And again lost in the basement
Go the years
Slow awakening
Never been a morning person
Sacrifice the morning
To the Gods

BONE DUST PREMONITION

Reborn upon the nation’s highways
Looking for some direction
Amongst a thousand shattered cities
Burying the past
In a thousand unmarked graves
Desert bone dust thirst
A bright green flower
In a black and white world
Tears down the gutter
A bright memory
Faded
Eroded moments
Empires fallen
Unsettling premonition
We will all be praying
Not the end, not the end

FADING THROUGH CHECKERED FREEDOM

The man fades
Through checkered freedom
Into a bright spring morning
Alone at last
Unto the world forgot
Waterfall mists
Sun reflects off the trees
Shade, sun and our nakedness
Brings to mind
Newly found innocence
Laughter
In nature’s audience

CHILDREN OF THE DAWN

We are all constantly forgetting
We are children of the millennium’s dawn
Children of the dawn
And when you can see it
From that certain perspective
I realize how beautiful that is
How truly beautiful
We all are
It is, after all
Ourselves seeing how truly beautiful ‘
We all are
And running screaming from that truth
From the beauty of ourselves
Ah, the frail humility of the human species
But stop this carrying on
I am
You are
We are
One.

THE FORGOTTEN RESIDUAL EFFECT

The forgotten residual effect
A night of a thousand lullabies
Soft reaction
The pale, black theatre of night
Gestures and glances
Very nuanced
A fiesta
The archetype of man
Down the bottom of a long tunnel
Back to the present reality
Beachside
Everything is beautiful
Sunshine in endless supply
Streets like emeralds glistening
Who’s listening
To our conscious testimony
We bear witness to being
In purified sentiment
Rarified pleasures
Garden whistle escape
Sanctimonious breed
Enchanted songs
Churn through our memories
Notes whistle down the proceedings
Oh, grant me clearer, expended vision
I hear on the wind
A grand celebration
The beginning of
A great turning
The age
Finally given its
Comeuppance
Will this song on the secret wind
Grow in its audacity?
Or be snuffed
Quelled in the name of
Social policy
Our colors do not run
But they could be bolder
Brighter
Like a picnic
On a beautiful day
In the American nature
So many blessings
My heart fills up
I offer silent thanks
To the great architect
Designer
Force for good
Easter parade
Cells dividing
I think I’ll travel now
And bring book and pen
Just to see
What will be borne of the breeze
Grant us all peace Lord,
Peace never-ending
That our frail humility
Might give birth
To our finest instincts
May we look at each man
With a square eye
And with no admonitions
From thoughts
Minds free
May we all learn to be
Just be
The keystone
From which was borne in me
The Christ seed
Personal arrangement
Crosses
May we be forgiven
The sins of those long before
In whose steps we walk
This journey we are all on
Two realities
Everything
Two meanings
Grows the ivy from the cross
That consciousness borne in man
Man on a mission
Union of man with God
The soul’s marriage to God
Pictures
Urging to spring forth
A glance more and gone
Like birds in the sky

IF WORDS COULD BRING MEDITATION

If words could bring about
The deepest meditation
True nature revealed
No detective work required
A sunflower
Would smile with pure innocence
True nature
World return
Man
So lost from his truth
Or so it seems
Would walk free
His paths straight
Mind
Free of alteration
A dedication
To the holy invocation
Mind, body and soul
SONG FOR LATER SEASONS
First glimpse of sunshine
From around the corner
Fragile, sacred
First blessings
Ah!
Return to the first blessing
Dare not speak its name
Dare not steal away
Its hard-fought beginnings
From the frost-breathed air
Here I duly note
And declare
A multiplicity
If only we knew
I suppose we do
Eyes half opened
Air growing fairer
And breathed into life
This other
Feminine spirit
Moment’s delicacy
But more
Only you will understand
Thanking the gods
Life is full of blessings
Nurture the right dreams
Thanks given
For this improved vision
Not missing that
Right in front of me
Lost in within
Always a virtue
Never a curse
Tides return
And turn to their own
Divine principle(s)
Holy trinity

LIFE’S OWN BRAND OF PECULIARITY

My life’s own brand of peculiarity
I’ll have to ask God
How he did that
Once I’ve passed on
Reaching for the cold wisdom
Of the long train ride
Sleeping but never asleep
Dissolve into some
Completely new understanding
And never to remember
Again
Like fireworks
Upon the mind
And the eyes
Always moving forward
Into some solemn understanding

LOVE AND FEAR

Love and fear
All else springs from these two
Ultimate polarities
God and the Devil
Unmasked
All their intentions
Revealed
Step back
Even further
You’ll see the blueprint of the universe

1000 NAKED SMILING EYES

One thousand naked, smiling eyes
One thousand words reaching out
All lost for truth
For reality
For life
For meaning
For something to believe in
Being takes faith
Present moment
Cleanses everything
In its sullen lost light
Look within
In the end
Look within
No solace no prisoners
Soul to soul
Searching for the heart’s true desire
Transcendence
A thousand ways of looking at it
Somewhere out there
Someone to believe in
We wrote our own stories
And give homage
To the fathers
Not my destiny
But of the most noble undertakings
We commit ourselves
Dust
Intransience
All words forgotten
Or lost
Time sings
Its own forgotten song
We know not
To where it goes
But follow
As the only light we knew
Grows
We are all given
This one light
One chance
In the end love is all there is
Indulge me
This one last story
You’ll never believe
The things our journey
Lay before us
But to open up
To the infinite light
Like a butterfly
One in one million souls
Will understand

SOFT IS THE NIGHT, SWIMMING

Soft is the night, swimming
The tenebrous membranes
Of the universe
Long tides
Long time dwelling peacefully
Peace found in a sunny field
October moon memories
Hallowed ground
Drifts the sophisticatus
Beach bonfires
Swollen silence
Bursts forth
With grain and mindfruit
Spiraling downward
Earth trajectories
Turtle mind
Ancient lullabies

POTENTIAL TO SURPRISE

The universe
Always has the potential
To surprise you
In the eyes of a dead man
In a picture on a wall
Always be open
To the universe’s
Potential to surprise
In the language of the spirit
The obvious is hidden
Beyond
And it is worthwhile
Every little mark
On the wall of the universe
The limits of understanding
Beyond the beyond
Gate, gate, paragate,
Parasamgate,
Bodhi sva ha!

SCREAM FROM THE CORNER OF THE UNIVERSE

Scream from the corner of the universe
What’s left?
How close can you get
The penultimate
Gratitude
Contribution
So many left behind
Grateful to tears
Again and again
Even looking back
On all the pain
The memories are chosen by God
Dreams of a child
Dreams of childhood and dying
Let it flow
Beyond sacrificial process
Do you see me?
The light so strong
All seems obvious
How far does the light travel?
The light unto the darkness
Shall the darkness transfigure
Truth etched in invisible stone
Who dares break the silence?
What obvious have you overlooked?
Sacred is my own conclusion
But shall remain unknown to you
Until the secret becomes obvious
And you look within
To that which lies beyond

IF WORDS DO NOT ASCEND TO THE HEAVENS

If the words do not ascend to the heavens
But fall instead to the earth
Do not curse them
Or bear false regard
All can be transcended
Look to the beauty and well-being
To every little miracle

TO ALL THAT LIES BEYOND

Here is to all of those
Beyond the reach of this pen
To the beautiful
To the frail
To what is hard to truly see
Access your own psychic story
From the perspective of the outsider
Spooky abandoned mental highways
Alternate ruined possibilities
Life was not in vain
Here’s to the absolute non-starter
Non-sequestered
Here’s to the sweet mother of creation
Shedding sorrow
Gifted
From breath to breath
Always here!
Always was!
Will still be
Will always be!
Borne of the clear blue sky
Within all of us

REMEMBERING THE DREAM

Soft words
Conjure unto their own
Still the soft, sunburned suburban dream
Still love the dream
Still see those memories
In the mind’s eye
Kept alive like flames
We all have our sacred fires
Fires we keep alive
From stillness, without methodology
Night vision
Vision in the night
Vision in the light
Conch shell salvation
No oaths, no invocations
Fire in a cave
Rain
Book and pen
Zen monk absolution
The clean water
It’s pure gift
Casting back
A yes
To darkness upon darkness
Darkness and light
The universe’s many devices
Dance in the twilight

OPEN THE EYES OF THE PEOPLE, LORD

Open the eyes of the people, Lord,
Let their eyes catch fire
The richness of your word
Your life, indivisible
May man see man as brother
May fear be banished
Like a lost shadow
May man’s eyes be opened
May he fight
The ancient enemy within
No longer
May he treat all life
With reverence
May he cultivate
A gentle heart
Transcend thought
Be free from time
Cherish the noble
Within
And among us
Let it be

SONG TO THE UNIVERSE

I am quick to declare I do not know
And reluctant to say I know
I have witnessed enough
In this incarnation
To believe in that
Which I cannot explain
The window
Into the great, inexplicable mystery
Angels in the proximity
Always seek the higher
From within
Consciousness brought forth
From beyond the wide-open sky
Song to great mother universe
Cosmic agent
Incarnation
Divine
Harmonic processes
Dancing in metaphor
Zeroes and ones
The universe laughs
The universe dances
Higher

INTO THE VOID
Floating madly through the innerspace
Shedding the burden of time and possession
Further, further into the void
Faster and slower
Simultaneously dying and being born
Past the death of light
Into the all-consuming void
Consciousness
catharsis
And return to original nature
Leaves no trace
Like birds no tracks
In the sky
All our petty comforts
Put aside
For the sacrificial journey
Beyond the beyond
Hail the goer
Such a crazy thing
The power of investigation
Free
Like the journey into
One’s self
Self-mind navigation
ART IS ORIGINAL TRUTH

Art is original truth

A thousand stars explode
Across a blue horizon
Velveteen subdued immovable
Calculated reason
Autumn is coming
